# Connect with MCP

> Add Whirl to an AI assistant that supports MCP.

Let your AI assistant read and create tasks, delegate work to Whirl agents, and approve or reject what they propose.

```text MCP server URL theme={null}
https://api.whirl.sh/mcp
```

## Install

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Claude">
    Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile.

    1. Go to [Customize → Connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors).
    2. Click **+**, then **Add custom connector**.
    3. Name it **Whirl**, paste the server URL and click **Add**.
    4. Click **Connect** and sign in to Whirl.

    On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds Whirl first in **Organization settings → Connectors** (**Add → Custom → Web**). Everyone else then clicks **Connect** next to Whirl in **Customize → Connectors**. Free plans can add one custom connector.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="ChatGPT">
    1. In ChatGPT, open [Plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins).
    2. Click **Add → Add MCP server**.
    3. Name it **Whirl**, choose **Streamable HTTP** and paste the server URL.

    2. Under **Custom apps**, click **Add a custom app**.
    3. Paste the server URL, click **Next** and sign in to Whirl.

    Custom apps need a personal Google account in the US, and **Keep Activity** turned on. See [Google's guide](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/17209137) for details.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Other">
    Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth can connect. Use these settings:

    | | |
    | - | - |
    | URL | `https://api.whirl.sh/mcp` |
    | Transport | Streamable HTTP |
    | Authentication | OAuth. Don't set an API key or an Authorization header. |
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

When you sign in, Whirl asks you to pick an organization, choose what the assistant can do, and optionally limit it to some workspaces. You don't need to set anything up in Whirl beforehand. To disconnect later, go to **Settings → API & MCP** in Whirl.

## Try it

Once you're connected, you can ask things like:

* "What's on my Whirl task list today?"
* "Which actions are waiting for my approval in Whirl?"
* "Show me what the Whirl agents did on the Acme onboarding task."
* "Ask my Whirl support agent to draft a reply to the latest refund request."
* "Add a reminder in Whirl to follow up with Sam on Friday at 10am."
* "Tell me whenever something in Whirl needs my approval."

## Tools and scopes

The [tool reference](/tool-reference) lists what the assistant can do. The same operations are in the [API](/api/reference).

Approval tools can send messages or change your data; see [tasks and approvals](/workflows).
